Helping children achieve their learning potential

My name is Chloe Ratnatunga and at CJR Education, I am dedicated to changing the lives of children through bespoke consulting and tutoring services designed to meet individual learning needs.

I draw on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2) curriculum to support primary-aged pupils, homeschooled children and older students who may need more support.

CJR Little Readers

During our CJR Little Readers sessions pupils learn to read in a fun and supportive setting.

In each 30 minute session we:

  • Read a new sound

  • Review previously taught sounds.

  • Learn how to blend sounds into words.

  • Practise writing the letter that matches the sound

  • Play games and read high quality texts together to make learning fun

Reading

I nurture a love for reading through engaging activities and targeted phonics teaching. I ensure pupils read texts at their reading level and support them to develop their accuracy, fluency and expression. I expose pupils to a variety of different books to promote and foster a life long love of literature.

Writing

I develop writing skills with fun and interactive transcription and composition activities. I teach and develop fine motor and handwriting skills to ensure a strong foundation and teach pupils spelling and grammar rules in line with the EYFS, KS1 and KS2 curriculum.

Mathematics

I build students understanding of shape and number using the CPA method: Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract. I teach using manipulatives to ensure my students develop depth and breadth across the primary maths curriculum.

Parent Consulting

  • Support calls with parents on Zoom

  • Learn how you can teach your child the primary curriculum

  • Perfect for parents who are confused by their child's learning journey at school and homework

  • Advice and guidance for parents who are home-schooling and may need extra support with phonics, early reading, writing and mathematics.
